How to Play a 4-Person Team Quota
In the 4-Person Team Quota format, golfers on a four-person team (duh) are each playing their own ball throughout. Based on their scores, they earn points for the team. The goal is to not just meet a point quota for your team, but for the team to exceed that goal. And the team that exceeds it by the most points wins the tournament or competition.
Let’s break all that down. What is the quota referred to in the name of the game? Each team’s quota is based on the combined quotas of the team members.
For example: Let’s say on your team Golfer A has a quota of 20, Golfer B of 15, Golfer C of 10 and Golfer D of 5. What does that add up to? 20 + 15 + 10 + 5 equals 50. Your team’s quota: 50 points.
Now your team’s goal is to beat 50 points by as much as you can. Points are based on each golfer’s score on each hole. Points are earned this way:
- A golfer who makes a bogey earns 1 point for her team.
- A par earns 2 points;
- A birdie earns 4 points;
- An eagle earns 8 points.
So, for example, if on Hole 1 Golfer A makes par (2 points), Golfer B makes bogey (1 point), Golfer C makes birdie (4 points) and Golfer D makes double bogey (0 points), the team earns 7 points for that hole. (And if a team earned 7 points per hole, that would result in 84 points, easily beating the team quota of 50 in our example).
The 4-Person Team Quota format requires all golfers involved have established quotas. That way, team quotas can be calculated before the round and everyone knows what quota they have to beat.
Rules of Play
